The German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur or BNetzA) has published the results of the first 2018 renewable energies bidding round for onshore wind and solar power projects. The bidding date was set on 1 February 2018 and the total volume of the tender has been set at 900 MW, of which 200 MW for solar and 700 MW for onshore wind. Incentives were awarded according to the bid price procedure, in which each plant operator receives a subsidy in the amount that corresponds to its individual bid. The maximum bids were initially set at €6.30c/kWh for wind projects and at €8.84c/kWh for solar installations. Although both tenders will be carried out on the same date, they have to be considered separately. The two tenders were largely oversubscribed.
The proposed wind capacity was slightly oversubscribed and bidders submitted 132 offers for wind power projects with a total capacity of 989 MW. The highest bid stood at €5.28c/kWh and the lowest €3.8c/kWh, for an average bid price of €4.6c/kWh (€3.8c/kWh in the previous tender). 83 bids totalling 709 MW were awarded a contract.
The proposed solar capacity was largely oversubscribed and bidders submitted 54 offers with a total capacity of 546 MW. The highest bid stood at €4.59c/kWh and the lowest €3.86c/kWh (between €4.29c/kWh and €5.06c/kWh during the previous tender), for an average bid price of €4.33c/kWh (€4.91c/kWh in the previous tender). 24 projects were selected.
