The German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur or BNetzA) has published the results of the second German auction for offshore wind for 1,610 MW. Six bids were awarded ranging from €0/MWh to €98.3/MWh and the average bid value stood at €4.66/kWh.
The Danish energy company Ørsted won two projects in the North Sea, namely the 420 MW Borkum Riffgrund West-1 at a price of €0/MWh and the 132 MW Gode Wind-4 at a price of €98.30/MWh. Ørsted also won three projects in the April 2017 German offshore wind auction with a total capacity of 590 MW: OWP West (240 MW at €0/MWh), Borkum Riffgrund West 2 (240 MW at €0/MWh), and Gode Wind 3 (110 MW at €60/MWh). With the latest announcement, Ørsted is now poised to build 1,142 MW of new offshore wind capacity in Germany by 2024-2025.
The Spanish company Iberdrola won the Ostsee Cluster-1 (486 MW, including the 476 MW Baltic Eagle and the 10 MW Wikinger Süd wind parks), while Innogy Kaskasi (RWE) won the rights to build and operate the 325-MW Kaskasi offshore facility in the North Sea (FID expected for 2020 and commissioning for 2022).
For offshore wind projects that will go into operation from 2026, the tender will take place from 2021 in the so-called "central model".
