The British electricity and gas markets regulator Ofgem (Office of Gas and Electricity Markets) has shortlisted five bidders to own and operate the £2.7bn (€3.1bn) transmission links for three UK offshore wind parks with a total capacity of 2,520 MW, namely the SSE-led 588 MW Beatrice off located northern Scotland (expected to be commissioned in 2019), Orsted's 1,200 MW Hornsea 1 off Yorkshire and ScottishPower's 714 MW East Anglia 1 off the east of England (both expected in 2020). Ofgem has pre-selected Aegir Energy Transmission, Core Transmission Partners, Diamond Transmission Partners, Equitix TEPCO Consortium and Transmission Capital Partners for the three assets. They will be later be invited to the final tender stage, which will be staggered for each project over the 2019-2020 period: the selection process for the Beatrice offshore wind project will start shortly, followed by Hornsea 1 in July 2019 and East Anglia 1 in February 2020.
