NTPC Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of NTPC, has opened tenders in India for the development of a 1 GW ISTS-connected wind project in Gujarat (western India), and two 900 MW-1.2 GW solar PV projects in Andhra Pradesh (south-eastern India).
The wind energy tender aims for the installation of 370 wind turbines with a rating of 2.7 MW or higher to be developed in three blocks (Block I-540 MW, Block II-305 MW, and Block III-154 MW). The contract comprises 10 years of comprehensive operation and maintenance of the system and the date for the submission of bids is 4 December 2023.
The two solar tenders aim to develop two ISTS-connected solar projects in the cities of Kurnool and Anantapur in the south-eastern state of Andhra Pradesh, India. Both tenders invite for the development of 900 MW ISTS connected solar PV projects with an additional 300 MW greenshoe option, with successful bidders obtaining a freehold or leasehold basis (calculated at 5 acres/MW) near an ISTS substation for 30 years. The submission date for the project in Kurnool is 18 December 2023, while the Anantapur project closes on 20 December 2023.
In 2022, NTPC had a consolidated capacity of 73 GW, of which renewable energy accounted for 7.5 GW. The company plans to reach a capacity of 35 GW of renewables in 2027.
