NTPC launches three tenders for 3.5 GW of wind projects in India

NTPC Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of the Indian company NTPC, has launched three tenders to develop a total of 3.5 GW of wind projects in the Indian States of Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat. The scope involves the design, engineering, micro-siting, manufacturing, supply, erection, testing, commissioning, and verification of guaranteed performance parameters for installing the proposed wind projects.

NTPC Renewable Energy has floated a tender for 1,200 MW of Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected wind energy projects, with a greenshoe option of up to 300 MW, in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. Bids can be submitted until 28 December 2023. The company has floated another similar tender for 1,200 MW in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, for which bids can be submitted until 27 December 2023. In addition, NTPC Renewable Energy has launched a tender for a 1.1 GW ISTS-connected wind energy project in Gujarat under Tranche-II, for which bids can be submitted until 20 December 2023. 

At the end of 2022, solar and wind accounted for 22% of installed capacity in India, with respectively 63 GW and 42 GW, while hydropower capacity surpassed 51 GW. India plans to increase its non-fossil fuel capacity to 500 GW and meet 50% of its energy requirements from renewables by 2030.
