NTPC invites land and transmission bids for 2 GW of solar in Rajasthan (India)

NTPC Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of the Indian thermal power generation company NTPC, has invited bids to procure land and an extra high voltage (EHV) transmission system package for the development of up to 2 GW of interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power projects in the Indian State of Rajasthan under Tranche-III. Bids can be submitted until 14 November 2023.

Successful bidders are also required manage the operation and maintenance of the EHV transmission line and terminal bay for three years from the project commissioning date. The minimum capacity quoted by a single bidder has been set at 300 MW and, if higher, must be quoted in multiples of 100 MW only.

At the end of 2022, solar and wind accounted for 22% of installed capacity in India, with respectively 63 GW and 42 GW, while hydropower capacity surpassed 51 GW. India plans to increase its non-fossil fuel capacity to 500 GW and meet 50% of its energy requirements from renewables by 2030.
