NTPC Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of the Indian company NTPC, has launched bids for land and an extra high voltage (EHV) transmission system package to develop interstate transmission system-connected solar power projects for a capacity of 2 GW, in the state of Rajasthan (western India).

Bids can be submitted until 27 December 2022. The successful bidder will have to acquire 5 acres/MW of land on a leasehold basis in the district of Bikaner and the adjoining areas in Rajasthan.

At the end of 2021, at the national level, solar and wind accounted for nearly 20% of installed capacity in India, with respectively 49 GW and 40 GW. The country aims to develop 175 GW of renewable capacity by the end of 2022, including 100 GW of solar.
