NTPC invites bids for a 960 MW wind power project in Karnataka (India)

NTPC Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of the Indian company NTPC, has launched a tender for the development of a 960 MW Interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected wind energy project in India’s State of Karnataka.

The tender includes the supply of installation of wind turbines generators (WTGs) for the project. The project scope includes designing, engineering, manufacturing, supplying, erecting, installing, testing, and commissioning the WTGs with a 3 MW or higher rating. The invitation for bids encompasses two separate blocks: block I will have 164 WTGs for a capacity of 492 MW, while block II will have 156 WTGs for 468 MW. Bids can be submitted until 6 August 2024.

At the end of 2023, solar and wind accounted for nearly 24% of installed capacity in India, with respectively 73 GW and 45 GW, while hydropower capacity reached nearly 52 GW. India plans to increase its non-fossil fuel capacity to 500 GW.
