NTPC Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of the Indian power utility NTPC, has invited bids for the Balance of Systems (BoS) package of up to 1,000 MW of interstate transmission system-connected wind power projects, with a greenshoe option for an additional 500 MW, anywhere in India expect the state of Rajasthan. Bids can be submitted until 21 March 2023. Installers can bid for capacities ranging from 100 MW to 1,000 MW, in multiples of 50 MW. The individual projects must be at least 50 MW or higher, in multiples of 10 MW. The scope includes all engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) work, excluding the supply of solar modules, as well as three years of comprehensive operation and maintenance.
Earlier in January 2023, NTPC Renewable Energy also invited bids for the Balance of Systems (BoS) package of 1,000 MW of interstate transmission system-connected wind power projects in the state of Gujarat (western India).
At the end of 2021, solar and wind accounted for over 20% of installed capacity in India, with respectively 49 GW and 40 GW, while hydropower capacity surpassed 51 GW. India plans to increase its non-fossil fuel capacity to 500 GW and meet 50% of its energy requirements from renewables by 2030.
