NTPC invites bids for 1 GW of wind projects in Gujarat (India)

NTPC Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of the Indian power utility NTPC, has invited bids for the Balance of Systems (BoS) package of 1,000 MW of interstate transmission system-connected wind power projects in the state of Gujarat (western India). The scope of work includes the design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of the projects. Bids can be submitted until 28 February 2023.

In November 2022, NTPC Renewable Energy also initiated a tender for the balance of system (BOS) package for a 1,200 MW (4 X 300 MW) solar project at Khavda RE power park, Rann of Kutch, Gujarat (India).

At the end of 2021, solar and wind accounted for over 20% of installed capacity in India, with respectively 49 GW and 40 GW, while hydropower capacity surpassed 51 GW. India plans to increase its non-fossil fuel capacity to 500 GW and meet 50% of its energy requirements from renewables by 2030.
