NTPC invites bids for 1 GW of wind power projects in Karnataka state (India)

NTPC Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of the Indian company NTPC, has invited bids to set up 1 GW of interstate transmission system-connected wind power projects in the state of Karnataka (southwestern India).

The scope of work includes the design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, testing and commissioning of the wind projects. The successful bidders will also be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the system for three years under the wind Balance of Systems (BoS) development package scope. Bids can be submitted until 19 December 2022. The installed wind turbines must have a minimum capacity of 2.7 MW and bidders need to have already executed wind projects of a cumulative capacity of 40 MW.

At the end of 2021, at the national level, solar and wind accounted for nearly 20% of installed capacity in India, with respectively 49 GW and 40 GW. The country aims to develop 175 GW of renewable capacity by the end of 2022, including 100 GW of solar.
