The Indian company NTPC has launched a tender to procure 1.2 GW of ISTS-connected wind-solar hybrid power projects across India, with a greenshoe option of 600 MW. Bids can be submitted until 2 December 2024. Minimum capacity per bidder is set at 50 MW, while the maximum is set at 600 MW.
In addition, India’s SECI launched another tender to procure 1.2 GW of round-the-clock power from ISTS-connected renewable energy projects across the country. Bids can be submitted until 16 December 2024, with minimum capacity set at 50 MW and maximum at 600 MW also.
At the end of 2023, solar and wind accounted for nearly 24% of installed capacity in India, with respectively 73 GW and 45 GW. India plans to connect 30 to 35 GW of solar and wind energy capacity to its grid during the fiscal year 2024-2025, and plans to eventually increase its non-fossil fuel capacity to 500 GW by 2030.
