The Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has awarded 69 production licenses on the Norwegian Shelf to 28 companies in the Awards in Predefined Areas (APA) 2019. 33 of the production licenses are located in the North Sea, 23 are in the Norwegian Sea and 13 are in the Barents Sea, and 18 licenses are additional acreage to existing production licenses or agreement-based areas.
Equinor has been awarded 23 new production licenses on the Norwegian continental shelf (8 production licenses in the North Sea, 8 in the Norwegian Sea and 7 in the Barents Sea), of which 14 as operator and 9 as partner. Vår Energi has been awarded 17 licenses (7 as operator), Aker BP 15 licenses (9 as operator), Neptune 13 licenses (4 as operator), Lundin 12 licenses (7 as operator) and DNO 10 licenses (2 as operator).
