Nigeria’s NNPC posts 2025 profit of USD4bn and oil output of 1.6 mb/d

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) has released its 2025 results, posting a revenue of NGN60,517bn (USD44.7bn) and a profit after tax of NGN5,760bn (USD4.2bn) (NNPC press release, 12/02/2026). NNPC’s statutory payments to government agencies and partners reached NGN14,706bn (USD10.8bn). The company produced an average of 1.62 mb/d of crude and condensate, as well as 7.1 bcf/d (73 bcm/year) of natural gas. Sales reached an average of 0.76 mb/d for crude oil and condensate and 4.4 bcf/d (45 bcm/year, commercialised production) for natural gas.

Nigeria produced 1.4 mb/d of crude oil and NGL in 2024, as well as 40 bcm of natural gas (commercialised production). NNPC became a commercial company in 2022, and the government is considering a partial privatisation.
