New York state holds 3rd offshore wind solicitation for 2 GW of projects (US)

The state government of New York (United States) has unveild plans to hold a third offshore wind solicitation for 2 GW of projects. The procurement exercise, administered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), will include the first phase of the state’s US$500m investment in offshore wind ports, manufacturing, and supply chain infrastructure. Proposers can apply on NYSERDA's offshore wind solicitation page until 22 December 2022.

The state of New York targets 9 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2035. Currently, plans for five offshore wind farms totalling 4.3 GW are already in development. New York also aims to source 70% of its power from renewables by 2030 and reach a zero-emission power sector by 2040. At the federal level, the United States target 30 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030 (only 42 MW in 2021).
