Nevada regulator approves 1 GW of renewable energy projects (US)

The Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN) has approved NV Energy's Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), which aims at bringing online 1,001 MW of renewable energy projects, of which 100 MW of battery storage capacity. NV Energy has signed Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with the project developers. All the projects will be built in various locations across Nevada and are slated for completion by the end of 2021. The US$2bn plan will help double NV Energy’s renewables deployment by 2023 and reach 3,000 MW of renewable energy capacity in operation by that date.

The 1,000 MW capacity will include namely 6 projects: the 101 MW Battle Mountain solar project (with 25 MW of storage) to be developed by Cypress Creek Renewables, the 200 MW Dodge Flat solar park (with 50 MW of storage) to be developed by NextEra, the 100 MW Fish Springs Ranch solar centre (with 25 MW of storage) to be developed by NextEra, the 300 MW Eagle Shadow Mountain solar park to be developed by 8minutenergy, the 250 MW Copper Mountain solar facility to be developed by CED Southwest Holdings and the 50 MW Techren Solar-5 solar PV project to be developed by Techren Solar.
