The Dutch Government has selected 11 new projects with large electrolysers (total capacity of 602 MW) to receive more than €700m in the second round of the Subsidy Scheme for Large-Scale Production of Fully Renewable Hydrogen via Electrolysis (OWE). The subsidy was open for companies’ developing electrolysers with a capacity of 0.5 MW or more to produce hydrogen with renewable energy. The average grant amount for the winning projects is €1.78m per MW of electrolysis capacity. The companies have until mid-2030 to complete their project.
Applications for more than €3.2bn were made to the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), but it gave preference to proposals that were not only economically feasible and able to be completed in time, but also with a clear use for the sustainable hydrogen. Among the selected companies where Air Liquide Industrie, Circul8 Hydrogen Plant, Den Tol Sustainable, Statkraft Renewables Benelux, Uniper Hydrogen Netherlands and Vattenfall, among others.
