The Government of the Netherlands has announced that the financial support to renewable energy sources, through its feed-in premium scheme auction mechanism called SDE+, would amount to €6bn for the spring's round planned in March 2017. The amount for the autumn round is planned to be €6bn but will be adjusted accordingly to the first round outcomes. In total, the SDE+ budget commitment is increased by 33% to €12bn in 2017 (from €9bn in 2016).
The SDE+ spring 2017 round (from 7 March to 30 March) will be carried out in three phases: projects with power generation costs of up to €90/MWh will be awarded; then, the settlement will gradually open up to more expensive projects to €110/MWh and €130/MWh. The €150/MWh tariff that applied until 2016 as the highest tariff has been removed in 2017 to reflect the projects cost reduction. During the opening of the SDE+, applicants will have the option to submit their projects in the so-called free category.
As part of the national Energy Agreement, the partners have committed themselves to achieving 14% renewable energy by 2020 and 16% in 2023.
