The Nantes Administrative Court of Appeal, which was seized by anti-wind associations (Prosimar and GRSB de La Baule), has rejected on 28 July all the appeals seeking the cancellation of the license to operate a 480 MW offshore wind park off Saint-Nazaire (Loire Atlantique) granted to EDF in March 2016 by a prefectoral order and the annulment of the 15 May 2017 first administrative decision which authorized the wind park operations. Blocked for months by lawsuits coming from several environmental groups, the project saw its prefectoral authorization decree confirmed again.
The 480 MW wind park project will be developed by Parc du Banc de Guérande, a 100% subsidiary of Eolien maritime France, jointly co-owned by EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF EN) and Enbridge. The commissioning is expected for 2021.
EDF EN is also developing two other offshore wind parks in France: the 450 MW Courseulles-sur-Mer project (off Normandy, Calvados, planned for 2021) and the 498 MW Fécamp facility (off Normandy, Seine-Maritime, planned for 2021).
