The Nantes Administrative Court of Appeal, which was seized by anti-wind associations, has rejected all the appeals seeking the cancellation of the license to operate a 450 MW offshore wind park off Courseulles-sur-Mer (Calvados, France).
In 2012 a consortium including EDF Energies Nouvelles was awarded the construction of three offshore wind projects along the French coast: Fécamp (Seine-Maritime), Courseulles-sur-Mer (Calvados) and Saint-Nazaire (Loire-Atlantique) during a call for tenders. The three projects are planned for commissioning in 2021 but were delayed because of several files lodged by anti-wind associations. However, the Nantes Court of Appeal already endorsed the two other offshore wind projects, namely the 480 MW St-Nazaire wind park (Loire-Atlantique) and the 498 MW Fécamp facility (off Normandy, Seine-Maritime).
The Calvados project is led by Eoliennes offshore du Calvados (EOC), a consortium entailing EDF Energies Nouvelles.
