Nama PWP launches RfQ process for 1.5 GW solar projects in Oman

Nama Power and Water Procurement (PWP) has launched the request for qualification (RfQ) process for a combined 1.5 GW of planned solar capacity in Oman (Nama PWP press release, 23/06/2026). The RfQ process includes the Adam Solar IPP (Project 11) that includes a 1 GW of solar capacity and an integrated BESS in the Wilayat of Adam, and the Sinaw Solar IPP (Project 12) that comprises a 500 MW solar PV plant in the Wilayat of Sinaw.

The RfQ represents the first stage of a competitive procurement process, after which shortlisted local and international developers are expected to enter the request for proposal (RfP) phase. The projects aim to support Oman Vision 2040, reduce the power sector’s carbon footprint and enable the issuance of environmental attributes, including International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-RECs).

According to Enerdata’s Global Energy Research, Oman pledged to reduce GHG emissions by 7% and to reach a 30% share of renewables in the power mix by 2030.
