MVM considers acquiring further stake in E.ON's Hungarian gas business

Hungarian electricity company MVM has signed a non-binding letter of intent with E.ON Hungária regarding the possible acquisition of shares in further Hungarian E.ON subsidiaries. The potential transaction may affect shares in public utility operator E.ON Energiaszolgáltató, distribution pipeline operators E.ON Közép-dunántúli Gázhálózati and E.ON Dél-dunántúli Gázhálózati as well as customer service operator E.ON Ügyfélszolgálati. As part of developing its new business model, in line with steps made so far, E.ON Hungária Group will continue developing and operating the electricity network, while it will focus more on its corporate customers in the power and gas segments. That is why the group intends to divest its gas network operators and the residential trading company. In April 2013 E.ON sold its stakes in E.ON Földgáz Trade, the largest gas supplier in Hungary, and E.ON Földgáz Storage (largest storage operator) to state-owned MVM.
