MSEB invites bids to develop 1.92 GW of solar capacity in Maharashtra (India)

MSEB Agro Solar Power, a subsidiary of the Indian group MSEB Holding Company, has launched nine tenders to develop 1.92 GW of solar power in the Indian State of Maharashtra, under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana scheme. Bids can be submitted until 20 November 2023. Selected bidders will sign a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) and the projects must be commissioned within a year from the signing of the PPA.

The tenders have been launched in nine districts of the Maharashtra State: 198 MW in Akola, 289 MW in Jalgaon, 117 MW in Jalna, 230 MW in Pune, 231 MW in Ahmednagar, 147 MW in Buldhana, 290 MW in the Nashik, 153 MW in Washim, and 265 MW in Nanded.

At the end of 2022, solar and wind accounted for 22% of installed capacity in India, with respectively 63 GW and 42 GW, while hydropower capacity surpassed 51 GW. India plans to increase its non-fossil fuel capacity to 500 GW and meet 50% of its energy requirements from renewables by 2030.
