MPUVNL invites bids for 1.1 GW of solar projects in Madhya Pradesh (India)

The Indian power company Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (MPUVNL) has invited bids to develop around 1.1 GW of grid-connected solar power projects in the state of Madhya Pradesh (central India). The projects, developed under Component C of the PM-KUSUM initiative, will supply power to the Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company (MPPMC). The bidders must design, engineer, install, build, supply, test, and commission the projects, as well as insure operation and maintenance activities under a 25-year contract. The proposals must be submitted by 7 February 2023, with bids opened on 9 February 2023. Developers will be qualified for government financial aid worth 30% of the projected project cost.

At the end of 2021, solar and wind accounted for over 20% of installed capacity in India, with respectively 49 GW and 40 GW, while hydropower capacity surpassed 51 GW. India plans to increase its non-fossil fuel capacity to 500 GW and meet 50% of its energy requirements from renewables by 2030.
