Morocco launches tender for 400 MW solar projects

The Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (Masen) has launched a tender to pre-qualify developers for building 400 MW of solar capacity under the Noor PV II  solar power project. The complex would be built in several PV arrays in 8 different locations. Interested developers will have to submit their bids before 28 February 2020.

Morocco aims to raise the share of renewables in its power mix to 52% by 2030 (12% from hydropower and 20% each for solar and wind). The country ambitions to build at least 2 GW of solar capacity under the Noor Solar Plan. In January 2019, it launched a tender for the Noor Atlas projects (7 solar PV projects totalling 200 MW) and another tender for the 230 MW Noor Midelt II PV-CSP project in July 2019. Morocco is also developing the 170 MW Noor PV I project, the fourth phase of the 580 MW Ouarzazate solar power project, a CSP-PV solar project in the Draa-Tafilalet region, the 120 MW Noor Tafilalet solar project, and the 200 MW Noor Argana solar project.
