The Moldovan energy regulator ANRE has launched an auction for 235 MW of renewable energy projects, including 100 MW of biogas-fired CHP units, 70 MW of solar PV (of which 50 MW would be installed on buildings and 20 MW would be ground-mounted), 30 MW of direct fuel combustion CHP units, 15 MW of syngas-fired CHP units, 15 MW of wind power (12 MW of large installations and 3 MW of small installations), and 5 MW of hydropower. Selected projects will sell their power generation to the state-owned energy distributor Energocom and will receive a 15-year fixed tariff.
At the end of 2020, Moldova had only 34 MW of wind capacity and 5 MW of solar capacity, on top of 64 MW of hydropower capacity (total capacity of 3.1 GW).
