The Energy Commission of Malaysia has published the list of winning development companies under the framework of its second Large-Scale Solar (LSS) tender round, which offered 563 MWac of capacity.
In Peninsular Malaysia, six projects ranging between 1 and 5.99 MW were awarded, along with eleven 6-9.99 MW projects and thirteen 10-30 MW projects. In addition, eight projects up to 6 MW were awarded in Sabah and Labuan, along with three 6-10 MW projects. The selected facilities are due to start commercial operations in 2019-2020. They will deliver their output to the utility companies Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) or Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB).
This second auction round originally targeted 460 MWac but was largely oversubscribed and attracted 1,632 MW of submissions including nearly 1,200 MW of 10-30 MW projects, 172 MW of 6-10 MW projects and 72 MW of 1-6 MW projects.
