Larsen & Toubro's Heavy Civil Infrastructure business vertical has secured a large order from Torrent Energy Storage Solutions for the construction of its 3 GW Saidongar 1 Pumped Storage project in Maharashtra, India (L&T press release, 14/01/2026). The scope of the deal includes design, engineering and execution of all civil and hydro-mechanical jobs associated with the project. The Saidongar project will comprise ten units of 300 MW each.
According to India’s NEP 2022 forecasts 83 GW of hydro capacity in FY2031, 19 GW of which will be pumped-storage capacity (Enerdata’s Global Energy Research).
