Lighthouse BP and Ørsted sign partnerships in the Polish renewable sector

Lighthouse BP has signed a co-development deal for 757 MW of solar projects in Poland with a local renewable company. The total capital expenditure to bring the entire pipeline to fruition could reach €500m. The portfolio includes nine solar projects in the regions of Zachodnio-Pomorskie, Lubuskie, Dolnośląskie and Wielkopolskie. Around half the projects could be ready for construction in 2022. Solar accounts for 8% of Poland's installed capacity, with 3.9 GW. Around 1.5 GW of solar projects are currently under construction and development.

In addition, the Polish private energy producer ZE PAK and Ørsted have signed a Letter of Intent to participate in the upcoming auction for seabed leases in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea. The two companies plan create a 50/50 joint venture which will be subject to merger clearance. If successful in the lease auction, the partners intend to jointly bid into Poland’s future offshore wind CfD auctions planned for 2025 and 2027. In May 2021, Ørsted and Polska Grupa Energetyczna (PGE) created a 50/50 joint venture to develop two offshore wind projects with a total capacity of 2.5 GW in the Polish Baltic Sea. As part of the agreement, Ørsted acquired a 50% stake in the 1,498 MW Baltica 2 and 1,045 MW Baltica 3 offshore wind projects.
