Italy awards only 821 MW of renewable capacity in a 3.3 GW tender

The Italian energy agency Gestore dei Servizi Energetici (GSE) has published the results of the sixth tender for renewable capacity under the country’s new renewable support scheme. A total quota of 3,316 MW was offered but the call for projects was largely under subscribed, with only 859 MW of bids submitted (around 26% of the available capacity).

In addition, GSE has launched a seventh tender to allocate 3,312 MW of wind and solar capacity. The seventh round of the tender scheme for large scale renewables comprises all the capacity that was not assigned in all the previous six rounds totalling 2,485 MW. Bids are open until 30 October 2021. The tender’s results will be released on 28 January 2021.
