Italy approves 940 MW for wind and 7.7 GW for solar projects

The Italian state-owned energy agency GSE (Gestore dei Servizi Energetici) has published the rankings of the competitive procedures for wind and solar PV plants, “pursuant to the Transitional Ministerial Decree for Fer X, with which approximately 940 MW are assigned to 29 wind farms for an average award price weighted with respect to the assigned power of €72.851/MWh [...] and approximately 7,700 MW to 474 photovoltaic plants for an average award price weighted with respect to the assigned power of €56.825/MWh” (GSE press release, 01/12/2025).

The maximum hammer prices are €77.738/MWh for wind farms and €62.675/MWh for photovoltaic plants.

According to the agency:

  • For photovoltaic plants, the interventions allowed are almost exclusively new constructions (with only one upgrade).
  • For wind plants, about one-third of the admitted requests concern complete renovation interventions, representing more than half of the permitted power.
