The Ministry for Climate, Energy and the Environment of Ireland has announced the results of the fifth Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS 5) auction, securing the maximum target volume of 1.5 TWh (around 829 GWh from solar and 671 GWh from wind). The auction selected 23 projects totalling over 1,000 MW of onshore renewable electricity, including 219 MW of wind and 860 MW of solar, at an average price of €98.81/MWh (up from €96.85/MWh in RESS 4); the average solar price stood at €100.63/MWh and the average onshore wind price stood at €96.56/MWh. Four solar project exceed the 100 MW threshold, namely 109 MW Tincurry Solar Farm, 105 MW Kilcormac Solar, 100 MW Ballyvalode Solar, and 100 MW Coolcarrigan Solar. The winning projects will sign a two-way settlement arrangement, receiving support only when market prices are low and repaying money to electricity customers when market prices are high.
