India’s RUVNL has revealed the winning companies of its auction to supply 1 GW of solar power from state transmission utility-connected projects across the state of Rajasthan (western India). Mahindra Susten and Sunfree Energy each were awarded 200 MW at a tariff of INR2.61/kWh (US$3.2c/kWh), while Avaada Energy was awarded 200 MW at a tariff of INR2.62/kWh. Bluepine Energy won 150 MW at a rate INR2.61/kWh, while SJVN Green Energy and Jakson were both awarded 100 MW, at tariffs of INR2.62/kWh and INR2.61/kWh respectively. Finally, Shiva Corporation was awarded 50 MW at a rate of INR2.61/kWh.
The projects that will be developed by those companies must secure financial backing within a year of signing the power purchase agreement (PPA), and must become operational 18 months after securing the funds. The projects will be designed for interconnection through a 33-kV dedicated transmission cable.
In March 2023, RUVNL also invited bids for 1.2 GW of solar projects across India. In February, it invited bids for 1.5 GW of solar power projects.
