India’s REMCL awards 1 GW of renewable capacity in tender

Railway Energy Management Co. Ltd. (REMCL), a JV of Indian Railways and RITES Ltd, has awarded 1 GW of round-the-clock (RTC) renewable capacity to six developers as part of a tender to secure power for Indian Railways (Mercom India, 24/11/2025). The awardees placed bids at INR 4.35 /kWh (approx. 4.9 ¢/kWh), for projects with or without storage to be connected to the Indian interstate transmission system from anywhere in the country. The projects will be expected to keep a minimum annual availability of 75% for the first three contractual years from commissioning and 85% thereafter.

Among the winners were awarded with 200 MW for ReNew Solar Power and Bhalki Solar Power, 180 MW for Purvah Green Power, 150MW for Jindal Green, 140 MW for Ayana Renewable and 130 MW for ACME Solar.
