India’s NLC tenders 500 MW of solar projects

India’s state-owned miner and thermal power producer NLC India has opened tenders aiming to set up 500 MW of solar projects across the country, which will be connected to the interstate transmission system (ISTS) and will be held on a turnkey basis (the company is given responsibility to plan and build a project that the client must be able to use as soon as it is finished without needing to do any further work on it themselves).

Installers can bid for any capacity from a minimum 100 MW to 500 MW, in multiples of 100 MW. Once the bids are awarded, the work will include getting approval for connectivity, long-term access and obtaining government land. The contractor is also responsible for the design, engineering, and commissioning of the total awarded capacity. The projects are tendered under the Open category, allowing the use of solar cells and modules of any origin. Bidding will close on 24 August 2022 and the bids will be opened the same day.
