India’s Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) has issued a tender to procure 600 MW of grid-connected solar power at the Khavda solar park, located in the Gujarat state (western India), with an additional 600 MW under a greenshoe option.
Bids can be submitted until November 15. Bidders must place bids for a minimum capacity of 100 MW and in multiples of 100 MW only. Their net worth should not be less than INR8m/MW (US$98,000/MW) of the capacity quoted and they will have to provide INR944,000/MW (US$11,560/MW) as a performance guarantee. Successful bidders will enter into a 25-year power purchase agreement with GUVNL from the commercial operation date of the project.
The project is expected to deliver energy at the 400/765 kV substation of the central transmission utility (CTU) located in the city of Khavda.
In 2021, solar and wind accounted for nearly 20% of installed capacity in India, with respectively 49 GW and 40 GW. The country aims to develop 175 GW of renewable capacity by the end of 2022, including 100 GW of solar.
