Greece's renewable auction attracts bids for 638 MW

The Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE) of Greece has received eight applications representing a total capacity of 638 MW in the country's first mixed renewable energy auction that will be held on 15 April 2019.

Solar or wind projects above 20 MW, solar PV projects having qualified for fast-track procedures, and mixed wind-solar power projects are all eligible for taking part to the auction. Among the proposed projects, PPC Renewables is developing a 200 MW solar project in Kozani, while Juwi is planning another 200 MW project and Spes Solaris is planning 2 solar projects totalling 104 MW (fast track procedure qualifiers).

RAE planned to offer 600 MW in the auction, if it attracted 40% more bids (840 MW bids). Since "only" 638 MW were proposed, i.e. 76% of the 840 MW mark, RAE has decided to offer only 456 MW (76% of the 600 MW volume) to bidders in the auction.
