Greece's 600 MW solar and wind auctions undersubscribed

Greece's Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE) has concluded its solar and wind auctions, awarding only 54% of the initially-planned volumes (322 MW).

The solar auction offered 300 MW of PV capacity for solar PV projects up to 20 MW but only attracted 68 proposals with a combined capacity of 200 MW. The RAE selected 23 winners, with a combined capacity of 143 MW. The ceiling price was set at €69.26/MWh and the weighted average price was 9.4% lower at €62.78/MWh (prices ranged between €61.95/MWh and €67.7/MWh).

The wind auction, which offered 300 MW of capacity for onshore wind projects up to 50 MW, only attracted 12 projects totalling 262 MW. Nine projects were selected, with a combined capacity of 179 MW. The capped price was set a €69.18/MWh and the weighted average price was 2.7% lower at €67.32/MWh (prices ranged between €59.09/MWh and €69.18/MWh).
