Germany’s Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) has launched its first tender of 2024, aiming at allocating 2,486 MW of onshore wind capacity. The tender invites projects with approval registered by 4 January 2024, and imposes a price ceiling of €7.35c/kWh; this maximum price remains consistent with 2023. The deadline for submitting proposals in the tender rounds is set for 1 February 2024.
In addition to this first call, three more rounds of the onshore wind tender are planned for the year, with deadlines on 1 May, 1 August and 1 November 2024. Each of the rounds will target the same capacity of around 2.5 GW.
In its latest tender results (December 2023) the Federal Network Agency awarded 1,967 MW of onshore wind across 165 bids. Values ranged between €5.88c/kWh and the maximum permissible value of €7.35c/kWh. Following this tender’s results, Germany awarded a total of 6,377 MW of onshore wind in 2023, almost twice the amount that was awarded in 2022 (3,225 MW).
