Germany’s Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) has launched the third solar tender of 2026 for ground-mounted solar installations, offering 2.23 GW of capacity (BNetzA press release, 22/10/2026). Bids must be submitted by 1 December 2026, with a maximum bid value of EUR5.53c/kWh. The ceiling price is based on the average of the highest successful bids in the previous three auction rounds, plus 8%. Several changes introduced under Solar Package I, including a higher maximum project size and specific provisions for special solar installations, remain subject to EU state-aid approval.
Since 2022, Germany has added around 15 GW/year of solar capacity, according to Enerdata’s Global Energy and CO2 Data (GED) service. Consequently, the share of solar in total capacity increased from 26% in 2022 to 39% in 2025. The share of solar in electricity production rose from 11% in 2022 to 18% in 2025.
