Germany launches first 2026 tender for 3.44 GW of onshore wind projects

Germany’s Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) has invited bids for 3.44 GW of onshore wind projects. This tender is part of the total planned onshore wind capacity for 2026, which amounts to 10 GW and is distributed across four scheduled bidding rounds.

  • According to German legislation, “the tenders for onshore wind turbines shall take place from 2023 to 2028 on the bidding dates of 1 February, 1 May, 1 August and 1 November”, with 10 GW of capacity to be installed each year from 2024 to 2028.
  • The maximum bid value for this tender round is set at €7.2c/kWh (US$8.5c/kWh), representing the highest permissible bid price.
  • Bids must be submitted by 2 February 2026.

Germany aims to reach 115 GW of onshore wind capacity by 2030 and 160 GW by 2040. As of the end of 2024, the country has an installed capacity of 62 GW (Enerdata Global Energy Data).
