The German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur or BNetzA) has released the results of the latest round of tenders for onshore wind projects, with a bid deadline on 1 December 2022. The tendered volume of this bidding round was reduced from 1,190 MW to 604 MW in advance, and only 16 bids totalling around 203 MW were submitted. Two bids were excluded due to formal errors; therefore, 14 bids have been approved for a total capacity of 189 MW.
Most of the projects will be developed in Lower Saxony (72 MW, 6 projects) and North Rhine-Westphalia (30 MW, 2 projects). The prices ranged from €5.86c/kWh to €5.88c/kWh (with a weighted average of €5.87c/kWh, more than the previous round at €5.84c/kWh).
Despite the early capacity reduction, this latest tender was only 31% subscribed, compared to 58% in the previous auction (772 MW out of a 1.3 GW tender in October 2022) and 71% in the prior one (931 MW out of a 1.3 GW tender in June 2022).
In addition, the regulator received 67 bids totalling 128 MW for a rooftop solar auction with a tendered volume of 202 MW. 11 bids were excluded and 56 projects totalling 105 MW were accepted, with prices ranging from €8.09c/kWh to €8.91c/kWh. Most contracts were awarded to projects in North Rhine-Westphalia (28 MW, 12 projects), followed by Baden-Württemberg (6 MW, 8 projects) and Berlin (7 MW, 6 projects).
