Germany awards 931 MW in undersubscribed onshore wind tender

The German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur or BNetzA) has released the results of the latest round of the tender for the development of 1,320 MW of onshore wind turbines, initially launched in March 2022 with a bid deadline on 1 May 2022. 114 bids representing 931 MW were awarded, out of 116 bids submitted (947 MW), and the price ​​of the accepted bids ranged from €5.44 c/kWh to €5.88 c/kWh. The largest award volumes are located in Schleswig-Holstein (224 MW, 36 awards), North Rhine-Westphalia (198 MW, 22 awards) and Lower Saxony (178 MW, 17 awards).

 Germany plans to tender a total of 4 GW of onshore wind in 2022 divided into three rounds through the year. In March 2022, the BNetzA published the results of the first tender for onshore wind with a bidding date set for 1 February 2022. The auction for 1,328 MW of onshore wind capacity attracted 147 bids totalling 1,356 MW, and 1,332 MW were awarded, with prices ranging from €4.77c/kWh to €5.88c/kWh (weighted average of €5.76c/kWh).
