Germany awards 86% of the capacity in a 1.7 GW onshore wind tender

The German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur or BNetzA) has released the results of the latest round of tenders for 1,667 MW of onshore wind projects, with a bid deadline on 1 May 2023. The tendered volume had been previously reduced from 3,192 MW to 1,667 MW.

The auction capacity attracted 142 bids totalling 1,436 MW. One bid was excluded and 141 projects totalling 1,433 MW were selected with prices ranging from €6c/kWh to €7.35c/kWh (weighted average of €7.32c/kWh, close to the maximum permissible value of €7.35c/kW). This tender was 86% subscribed, compared to 56% in the previous auction, while the weighted average tariff remained stable (€7.34c/kWh in May 2023).

Most of the projects will be developed in North Rhine-Westphalia (457 MW, 51 awards), Lower Saxony (343 MW, 31 awards) and Schleswig-Holstein (259 MW, 25 awards).
