The German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) has awarded 2.27 GW of capacity in its latest tender for ground-mounted and certain non-building solar installations. The auction held on 1 July 2025 was oversubscribed, with 313 bids totaling 2.82 GW competing for the 2.27 GW available. Award prices ranged from €4.00c/kWh to €6.26c/kWh.
Bavaria secured the largest share with 689 MW across 106 projects, followed by Rhineland-Palatinate with 251 MW and Lower Saxony with 250 MW. The next auction for this segment is scheduled for 1 December 2025. Germany’s prior tender for ground-mounted solar projects in April 2025 was also heavily oversubscribed. The tendered quantity was 2.6 GW, but 420 bids totaling 3.8 GW were submitted. Award prices in that round ranged from €3.99c/kWh to €4.88c/kWh.
Germany aims to reach 215 GW of solar capacity by 2030 and achieve 100% renewable electricity consumption by 2035. In 2024, renewables accounted for nearly 60% of the country’s power mix, with wind and solar representing 43% of total generation.
