Germany awards 1,967 MW of onshore wind capacity in its latest tender

The German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) has published the results for its onshore wind tender, in which 167 bids were submitted with a total bid volume of 1,981 MW (out of an advertised quantity of 2,087 MW). The Federal Network Agency accepted 165 bids for a contracted volume of 1,967 MW, after two bids were excluded. 

Bid values ranged between €5.88c/kWh and the maximum permissible value of €7.35c/kWh, with an average of €7.31c/kWh. The largest capacities were awarded for locations in Schleswig-Holstein (416 MW, 42 bids), Lower Saxony (312 MW, 25 bids), North Rhine-Westphalia (309 MW, 31 bids), and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (222 MW, 16 bids). 57 MW were awarded to the German utility RWE.

Following this tender’s results, Germany awarded a total of 6,377 MW of onshore wind in 2023, almost twice the amount that was awarded in 2022 (3,225 MW).
