The German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) has announced the results of its tender for ground-mounted PV systems, with bids due by 1 March 2023 for 1,950 MW of capacity. The tender was largely oversubscribed, with 347 bids totalling 2,869 MW of solar capacity, making it the first tender since June 2022 where the bid quantity received significantly exceeds the advertised quantity. 245 bids with a total volume of 1,952 MW were eventually accepted.
Bids with locations in Bavaria (845 MW, 119 bids) account for the largest volume awarded, followed by projects in Brandenburg (223 MW, 17 bids) and Rhineland-Palatinate (163 MW, 18 bids). By category, most contracts were awarded to projects on arable land or grassland (851 MW, 86 bids), followed by edges of motorways and railways (755 MW, 91 bids). The values determined in the bidding price procedure ranged between €5.29c/kWh and €7.30c/kWh. The average price stood at 7.03 ct/kWh, below the €7.37c/kWh ceiling. The next round of tenders for solar systems is scheduled for 1 July 2023.
