Germany awards 1.8 GW of offshore wind, including 1.6 GW to RWE

The German Federal Network Agency released the results of its offshore wind tender regarding four areas in the North Sea with a total capacity of 1,800 MW; the tender raised €785m in proceeds. RWE secured rights for N-3.5 (420 MW) and N-3.6 (480 MW) projects, part of Nordseecluster B, located around 50 km north of the island of Juist. Commissioning is scheduled for 2029.

In addition, the company won the N-6.6 site (630 MW), where Vattenfall, with entry rights, can join RWE’s bid. Site N-6.6 is a pre-investigated area located around 50 km northwest of the Nordseecluster. Waterkant Energy received the award for N-6.7 (270 MW) without entry rights. The granted rights encompass the establishment, building, and operation of the projects that are assured of securing grid connections.
