Germany’s Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) has announced the results of its latest tender for onshore wind. The auction was undersubscribed, as 135 bids with a capacity of 1,981 MW were submitted out of an original tendered quantity of 2,486 MW. 129 bids with a capacity of 1,836 MW were eventually accepted by the Bundesnetzagentur.
The values of the successful bids range from €7.25c/kWh to the maximum permissible value of €7.35c/kWh. The average price stood at €7.34c/kWh, compared to €7.31c/kWh in the previous round. The largest volumes of awards were for sites in North Rhine-Westphalia (32 awards, 379 MW), Lower Saxony (17 awards, 319 MW), Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (16 awards, 274 MW) and Brandenburg (14 awards, 244 MW).
In its previous tender (December 2023) the Federal Network Agency awarded 1,967 MW of onshore wind across 165 bids. Values ranged between €5.88c/kWh and €7.35c/kWh. Following this tender’s results, Germany awarded a total of 6,377 MW of onshore wind in 2023, almost twice the amount that was awarded in 2022 (3,225 MW).
