Germany’s Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) has announced the results of its tender for ground-mounted solar PV systems. The auction was significantly oversubscribed, as 574 bids with a capacity of 5,485 MW were submitted out of an original tendered quantity of 1,611 MW. 124 bids with a capacity of 1,613 MW were eventually accepted by the Bundesnetzagentur.
The award values were between €4.44c/kWh and €5.47c/kWh, lower than those of the previous round (€5.39c/kWh and €6.65c/kWh) and below the maximum value set at €7.37c/kWh. The average volume-weighted award value in this round was €5.17c/kWh, which is €1.3c/kWh below the value of the previous round (€6.47c/kWh).
The largest capacity was awarded in Bavaria (604 MW, 63 awards), followed by Brandenburg (197 MW, 9 awards) and Saxony-Anhalt (167 MW, 11 awards). The largest single successful bid had a capacity of 74 MW.
In its latest solar auction in August 2023, Germany awarded 1,673 MW in a tender that was also largely oversubscribed.
